In a new report published by Kaspersky Lab, the company discovered more than 20,000 ransomware variants across different devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers and TVs.
It found ransomware attacks that targeted businesses, hospitals, schools and other organizations were more prevalent than previous years.
It also found that the ransomware’s popularity has grown in recent months, and that its attack methods are becoming more sophisticated.
The ransomware was first discovered by researchers at security firm Kasperski, and it is believed to be a variant of WannaCry that has been released as a new version.
The researchers said the ransomware has now been found to infect up to 10,000 computers per day, with a median infection rate of about 3,000.
The Kasperskovs’ report comes as the cybersecurity industry faces increasing competition from ransomware and other threats that target financial institutions and financial companies themselves.
The rise of these attacks has resulted in a huge rise in ransomware infections in the United States, according to the report.
