Trump hires BPP consultant as chief of staff
Donald Trump has hired a longtime political consultant to be his chief of general counsel.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that former Republican National Committee chief of counsel Michael Caputo will join the president’s legal team.
The Washington Post said Caputo has been advising the Trump administration on federal procurement law and its effect on campaign finance laws.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Caputo has also worked on campaign-finance matters in California and Massachusetts, as well as on other matters, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He also worked for Trump in California, where he served as a campaign finance consultant and as a Republican Party political strategist.
In 2018, Caputo became a partner at the firm that advises Trump’s legal teams on campaign financing.
He previously worked for the Trump presidential campaign.
The report of Caputo joining the White House was first reported by Politico.
